About Alex

Alex Schechter, DVM Dr. Alex Schechter grew up in Detroit, and later received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Pursuing a career in animal medicine, Dr. Schechter earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014, he moved to New York City where he completed an internship and advanced training in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan. Experiencing great success, he remained at BluePearl afterwards as a Senior Emergency Clinician. Dr. Schechter joined the team at Pure Paws of Hell’s Kitchen in 2016. In his spare time, he loves exploring the diverse neighborhoods of New York City with his fiancé and their one-eyed Shih Tzu, Cy (short for Cyclopes). Staying true to his hometown and university, Dr. Schechter is a diehard Michigan sports fan – Go Blue!
